Work From Home Scams

Ever see the ads on TV for working from home? There is one particular ad that is on quite frequently, but every time it is on, the web site being advertised is different. Usually it is something like 21income.com or 32gain.com or whatever; almost always a number followed by a word that has something to do with money. The one lady in the ad always says "this is the one web site you must vist". If that is true, then why is it a different web site every time she says it? I don't know about you but it sounds like a scam to me. I've never visited any of the sites to see what it is all about but it just all looks very fishy.

Have you seen the new e-mail scam - well not really new, but new to me it is anyway - that comes in on a form looking very, very official, supposedly from the IRS and says due to a mistake in your last income tax filing, the IRS owes you a refund and it then directs you to a page you are to fill out with information they need to send you this refund?

Well, if anyone clicks into that, fills out the form and submits it, they have just signed their lives away! It requests information that would enable the scammer to clean out your bank accounts, max your credit cards and also, steal your identity with your social security information!

I received one of these last week and what drew my attention to it that it had to be a scam was the fact I have not filed an income tax form for the past two years therefore, I would have no filing to be owed a refund from! But, because it came from the IRS, looked so official and all that, had circumstances been different and had I not been aware of the various scams operating, I could easily have been fooled then by this one!

Old adage there - if it sounds too good to be true - it probably isn't true then! And that goes for those obnoxious tv ads too - just another way to bilk the public who is just in search of a way, ultimately, to try to make a living, make ends meet.

Gee I should fill that out and send it in. They'd have fun with it. My bank accounts are already empty and my cards are just about maxed. No one would get very far with my identity if they stole it. They might actually improved it!!
